Company Overview
The industrial food system is broken. It strips the land, drives climate change, and undermines the rights of farmers and communities.
We stand for a different future—one where communities control their food systems instead of being exploited by them. Where farmers co-create solutions adapted to their realities, drawing on their knowledge to heal the land and strengthen their communities.
Our approach is bottom-up, led by the people who work closest to the land, and centered on agroecology. With our local partners in the field, we empower farmers to build practical, scalable solutions that honor Indigenous heritage, build autonomy, and regenerate ecosystems by working with nature instead of against it, creating lasting change across territories.
What we do:
Smallholder farmers are at the center of our work. Our global network of NGO partners works hand-in-hand with rural and Indigenous communities across West Africa, Latin America, and South Asia to:
- Promote agroecological practices that regenerate soil, conserve water, and enhance biodiversity.
- Strengthen local food systems to ensure communities have access to healthy, nourishing food.
- Empower smallholder farmers, especially women and youth, to lead initiatives that improve livelihoods and climate resilience.
- Advocate for policies that prioritize nature and people at regional and global levels.
Our impact:
Groundswell International is a non-profit that has improved the lives of thousands of families in the Global South, restored ecosystems, and strengthened communities' ability to thrive in the face of climate change. Learn more about our work
